My family and I came on a Saturday evening around 6:30pm so that we could catch the sunset view on the lake. It was a bit of a struggle to find parking as the lot is shared between other restaurants and cafes. We also came at prime time so make sure to take that into consideration. The restaurant is very lively and they offered seatings inside as well as outdoor on the pier. We ordered the baby back ribs, hula hut burger, grilled fresh fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and steak tubular tacos. The food is mediocre, nothing stands out or worthy to note. We also got the hula frozen flight, which is well worth the price. Overall, a great place to hangout, have a drink, and watch the sunset.

We had dinner at Hula Hut in Austin, Texas around 8 PM, and I don’t think we could’ve picked a better time. We got there just as the sun was setting, so we enjoyed the lake view in daylight first, and then as it got darker the lights around the water completely changed the atmosphere. Sitting outside by the lake was easily the best part of the evening. We chose the outdoor seating, and between the live atmosphere, music, and the view of the water, we ended up staying longer than we planned. It’s one of those places where you don’t feel like rushing through dinner. For food, we started with the Palm Tree Hugger Nachos, which were a great appetizer. The highlight for me, though, was the fried avocado tacos. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but they were honestly delicious and ended up being my favorite dish of the night. We also ordered the Veggie Fajitas and the Hula Hut Burger, and both were really good. We finished everything off with the Tres Leches dessert, which was the perfect ending to the meal. The service was friendly, and even with the restaurant being busy, everything came out at a good pace. If you’re visiting Austin, Texas, I’d recommend going around sunset and asking

Stopped by for lunch and it was the perfect low-key spot — much quieter than the dinner crowd. Sat inside and the kids loved watching the tortillas being made fresh right in front of us. Food came out good and hot, solid Tex-Mex flavors all around. Easy, fun spot for a family lunch!

It was definitely worth the little wait. The best part was the chicken tortilla soup. The broth was so delicious, your abuela could be serving it at home. It was a little loud and made us wonder how it would feel like if everybody just enjoyed their food in silence, but such is the culture. I couldn't use the restrooms because they were used as changing rooms by a bunch of teenage mean girls. It was a worthwhile experience but nothing extraordinary.

Wife and I have been here twice now and love this place. The atmosphere is fun/laid back. We enjoy sitting outside looking out at the water. Tried the Kawaikini Stuffed Avocado today…SO GOOD. This place was busy both times we’ve dined here, had to park across the street. Not an issue for us but for some that may be something to consider. You may have to walk up hill/stairs to get back to your vehicle. Overall we love this place and plan to come back!
